Ingredients:

  • 2 cups packed fresh basil leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup raw pine nuts
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

Instructions:

  1. Lightly toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant and golden. Let them cool completely before adding to the processor.
  2. Place the basil, toasted nuts, garlic, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper into the food processor. Pulse several times until the mixture forms a coarse, thick paste, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Turn the processor to low speed and slowly stream in the extra virgin olive oil in a steady drizzle. Process only until the sauce is smooth and glossy.
