Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons (30 mL) olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/3 cup (100 g) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) fresh ginger, minced or grated
  • 1 tablespoon (15 mL) rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until well mixed.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the cooked shrimp in the skillet. Stir to coat and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Remove from heat, then sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
