Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (250g)
- ¾ cup hot water (about 180ml)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup ground pork (150g) or tofu for a vegetarian option
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30ml)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (15ml)
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30ml) for frying
- Water, for steaming
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add hot water and mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Wrap in cling film and let rest.
- In a bowl, mix the ground pork/tofu, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, ginger, garlic, and seasoning.
- Roll out the dough into a thin sheet, cut out circles (about 3 inches in diameter). Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle, fold in half and pinch to seal.
- Heat oil in a frying pan, place dumplings, and fry until golden brown on the bottom (about 2-3 minutes). Add water to the pan, cover with a lid, and steam for 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove the lid, allow any excess water to evaporate, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
