Ingredients:

  • 750 ml Good Quality Bourbon (Rye-based preferred)
  • 1 cup Dried Mission Figs, quartered
  • 2 strips Orange Peel (no pith)
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth (per drink)
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters (per drink)
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters (optional, per drink)
  • Maraschino Cherry, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Phase 1: Preparing the Fig Element (Start 1 Week Ahead). Quarter the dried figs and place them into a clean, sterilized glass jar.
  2. Add the strips of orange peel to the jar. Pour the entire bottle of bourbon over the figs and peel.
  3. Seal the jar tightly. Store in a cool, dark place for 5 to 7 days, gently shaking once daily to facilitate flavor extraction.
  4. After steeping, strain the bourbon through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth to remove all solids. Transfer the infused bourbon back into a clean bottle. Discard solids.
  5. Phase 2: Building the Cocktail (Per Serving). Chill your coupe glasses thoroughly.
  6. In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Fig-Infused Bourbon, 1 oz Sweet Vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash Orange bitters.
  7. Fill the mixing glass two-thirds full with large ice cubes.
  8. Stir deliberately and consistently for 30–45 seconds to achieve optimal chilling and dilution.
  9. Strain the mixture neatly into the prepared chilled glass.
  10. Garnish with one high-quality maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.
