Ingredients:
- 750 ml Good Quality Bourbon (Rye-based preferred)
- 1 cup Dried Mission Figs, quartered
- 2 strips Orange Peel (no pith)
- 1 oz Sweet Vermouth (per drink)
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters (per drink)
- 1 dash Orange Bitters (optional, per drink)
- Maraschino Cherry, for garnish
Instructions:
- Phase 1: Preparing the Fig Element (Start 1 Week Ahead). Quarter the dried figs and place them into a clean, sterilized glass jar.
- Add the strips of orange peel to the jar. Pour the entire bottle of bourbon over the figs and peel.
- Seal the jar tightly. Store in a cool, dark place for 5 to 7 days, gently shaking once daily to facilitate flavor extraction.
- After steeping, strain the bourbon through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth to remove all solids. Transfer the infused bourbon back into a clean bottle. Discard solids.
- Phase 2: Building the Cocktail (Per Serving). Chill your coupe glasses thoroughly.
- In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of Fig-Infused Bourbon, 1 oz Sweet Vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash Orange bitters.
- Fill the mixing glass two-thirds full with large ice cubes.
- Stir deliberately and consistently for 30–45 seconds to achieve optimal chilling and dilution.
- Strain the mixture neatly into the prepared chilled glass.
- Garnish with one high-quality maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.
