Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats (Old Fashioned)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 ½ cups Milk (Whole or preferred alternative)
  • 1/8 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup (Grade A Dark)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Unsalted Butter

Instructions:

  1. Melt the unsalted butter in a small non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped pecans and toast until fragrant (about 2-3 minutes). Remove immediately and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, milk, and salt. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the rolled oats. Reduce the heat immediately to low.
  4. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for about 10–12 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached a creamy consistency.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Let it stand, covered, for 2 minutes to ensure maximum creaminess.
  6. Divide the oatmeal into two bowls. Top generously with the toasted pecans and serve immediately.
