Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454g) breakfast sausage, casings removed
  • 3 cups (360g) Bisquick baking mix
  • 4 ounces (113g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 cup)
  • 1/4 cup (59ml) milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried sage (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat (if using).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the breakfast sausage, Bisquick, cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder (if using), and dried sage (if using).
  3. Using your hands, mix the ingredients thoroughly until everything is evenly distributed. The mixture should be slightly sticky.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. A cookie scoop can help you get even sizes.
  5. Arrange the sausage balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let the sausage balls cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before serving.
