Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry (thawed)
  • ¾ pound ham, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Allow the puff pastry to thaw at room temperature.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Place one sheet of puff pastry on a greased baking sheet.
  4. Layer the cubed ham and shredded cheese on top of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Prepare the egg wash by beating together the egg and water in a small bowl.
  6. Brush the egg wash along the edges of the pastry using a pastry brush.
  7. Carefully place the second sheet of puff pastry over the filling and press down around the edges to seal securely.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut vents in the top layer to allow steam to escape. Brush any remaining egg wash on top for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  10. Allow cooling slightly before cutting into eight pieces. Serve warm for best flavor!
