Ingredients:
- 2 sheets of puff pastry (thawed)
- ¾ pound ham, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Allow the puff pastry to thaw at room temperature.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place one sheet of puff pastry on a greased baking sheet.
- Layer the cubed ham and shredded cheese on top of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Prepare the egg wash by beating together the egg and water in a small bowl.
- Brush the egg wash along the edges of the pastry using a pastry brush.
- Carefully place the second sheet of puff pastry over the filling and press down around the edges to seal securely.
- Using a sharp knife, cut vents in the top layer to allow steam to escape. Brush any remaining egg wash on top for a golden finish.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Allow cooling slightly before cutting into eight pieces. Serve warm for best flavor!
