Ingredients:
- 2 standard bags Strong Black Tea (e.g., English Breakfast)
- 1/2 cup Boiling Water
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
- 1/8 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Good Quality Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Rolled Oats (Old Fashioned)
- 1 cup Milk (Dairy or Unsweetened Alternative)
- 1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt (2% or full-fat)
- 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds
- 1 to 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup or Honey
- Pinch of Salt
- Toasted Sliced Almonds or Pecans (for topping)
- Fresh or Frozen Berries (for topping)
Instructions:
- Brew the Chai Concentrate: Place tea bags in a small bowl. Pour boiling water over them, add the ground spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger). Steep for 5 minutes. Squeeze bags out well, discard, and stir in the vanilla extract. Let this mixture cool slightly (about 10 minutes).
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cooled chai liquid, milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and salt until smooth.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the rolled oats and chia seeds until everything is thoroughly coated. Ensure no clumps of dry oats remain at the bottom.
- Portion and Chill: Divide the mixture evenly between two standard sealable jars or containers. Seal tightly.
- Refrigerate: Place in the refrigerator for a minimum of 6 hours, but preferably overnight.
- Serve and Garnish: In the morning, check consistency; if too thick, add a splash more milk. Top generously with toasted nuts, berries, or an extra drizzle before enjoying cold.
