Ingredients:
- 10 oz (280 g) tortilla chips
- 2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (120 g) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 can (15 oz or 425 g) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup (150 g) diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- 1/2 cup (75 g) sliced jalapeños (pickled or fresh)
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1/4 cup (60 g) sour cream
- 1/4 cup (60 g) fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 1 cup (150 g) cooked ground beef or shredded chicken (optional)
- 1/2 cup (75 g) diced red onion (optional)
- 1/4 cup (60 g) guacamole (optional)
- 1/4 cup (60 g) salsa (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread the tortilla chips in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Evenly sprinkle the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the chips.
- Top with black beans, diced tomatoes, and jalapeños. Add any optional extras like ground beef or shredded chicken at this point.
- Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Top with diced avocado, sour cream, cilantro, and sprinkle with salt and chili powder as desired.
- Serve immediately on a large platter with additional toppings and sauces on the side.
