Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder (24g)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin (7g)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (3g)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (1.5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (1.5g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (0.5g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (6g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (1.5g)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients: chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Whisk together thoroughly until all the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Taste a small pinch of the taco seasoning recipe. Adjust the cayenne pepper for heat and salt to taste.
  4. Transfer the taco seasoning to an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
  5. Use approximately 2-3 tablespoons of taco seasoning per pound of ground meat (or other protein). Add to browned meat along with 1/4 cup water and simmer until the liquid is absorbed.
