Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing the pan
- 1 (10-ounce/283g) package marshmallows, plus 2 cups (about 113g) extra, separated
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) sea salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
- 6 cups (170g) Rice Krispies cereal
Instructions:
- Grease the 9x13 inch baking pan generously with butter, or line with greaseproof paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In the large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
- Add the majority of the marshmallows (the 10-ounce package) and the salt to the melted butter. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Gently fold in the reserved 2 cups of marshmallows, leaving them partially melted for extra gooeyness. This is key for the perfect rice krispie treats recipe.
