Ingredients:

  • 32 ounces (907g) frozen tater tots
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound (454g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices American cheese, halved (or 6 slices cheddar, Monterey Jack or your preferred cheese)
  • Optional toppings: Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, sliced pickles, shredded lettuce, diced onion

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss frozen tater tots with vegetable oil. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  3. While tots are baking, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce in a mixing bowl.
  4. Gently form the mixture into 12 small, thin patties.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and browned.
  6. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a half slice of cheese and let melt.
  7. To assemble, place a tater tot on a serving platter. Top with a cheeseburger patty and another tater tot.
  8. Add your favorite toppings such as ketchup, mustard, pickles, or lettuce.
  9. Serve immediately.
