Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 24 Rolos candies
- ½ cup (120g) baking soda
- 4 cups (960ml) water
- 2 tbsp coarse sea salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Whisk in melted butter and salt.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Divide the dough into small balls (about 1 ounce each).
- Flatten each ball and place a Rolo in the center. Pinch the dough around it to seal.
- In a small pot, bring 4 cups of water and baking soda to a gentle boil.
- Using a slotted spoon, carefully place each pretzel into the baking soda bath for 30 seconds.
- Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
