Ingredients:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: A drizzle of honey

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil and arrange on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
  3. Wash and hull the strawberries. Slice them thinly and place them into a small bowl.
  4. Spread softened goat cheese evenly on each toasted baguette slice.
  5. Arrange sliced strawberries attractively over the goat cheese.
  6. Sprinkle with fresh basil, drizzle with balsamic glaze and, if desired, a drizzle of honey. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
