Ingredients:
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: A drizzle of honey
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil and arrange on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
- Wash and hull the strawberries. Slice them thinly and place them into a small bowl.
- Spread softened goat cheese evenly on each toasted baguette slice.
- Arrange sliced strawberries attractively over the goat cheese.
- Sprinkle with fresh basil, drizzle with balsamic glaze and, if desired, a drizzle of honey. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
