Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados (approx. 450g), Hass preferred (1 lb)
- 1/2 medium red onion, finely diced (approx. 50g) (2 oz)
- 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and minced (or more, to taste)
- 1/4 cup roughly chopped fresh cilantro (coriander)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for depth)
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra kick)
- 1/4 cup of water if needed
Instructions:
- Halve avocados, remove pits, and scoop flesh into the large bowl.
- Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired consistency – chunky or smooth, your call!
- Add the diced red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro to the bowl.
- Pour in the lime juice, salt, cumin (if using), and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Gently mix all ingredients together. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed – more lime, more salt, more spice? Go for it! If the guac is too thick, add the water.
- Serve right away or chill for later (see tips for preventing browning).
