Ingredients:
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus more as needed
- 1 tbsp (12g) granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp (9g) salt
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp / 7g) active dry yeast
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (110°F / 43°C - 46°C)
- 2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 cup (113g) shredded Italian cheese blend (mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone)
Instructions:
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until foamy.
- Add olive oil, salt, and most of the flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Gradually add remaining flour until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and knead in the herbs and ¾ cup of the cheese.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise again until puffy.
- Preheat the oven.
- Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with remaining cheese and herbs, and bake until golden brown and hollow-sounding.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
