Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (preferably plain or Italian seasoned)
  • 1/2 cup (75g) finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2g) black pepper
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 1/2 cup (50g) mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra gooeyness)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon (15g) brown sugar (optional for sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the meat mixture.
  4. Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the loaf pan.
  5. Create a well in the center and add the remaining cheese.
  6. Mix ketchup and brown sugar, and spread it evenly over the meatloaf.
  7. Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
