Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (preferably plain or Italian seasoned)
- 1/2 cup (75g) finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon (5g) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon (6g) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2g) black pepper
- 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
- 1/2 cup (50g) mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra gooeyness)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) ketchup
- 1 tablespoon (15g) brown sugar (optional for sweetness)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the meat mixture.
- Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the loaf pan.
- Create a well in the center and add the remaining cheese.
- Mix ketchup and brown sugar, and spread it evenly over the meatloaf.
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
