Ingredients:

  • 2 sheets ready-made puff pastry (approx. 14 oz/400g total)
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting
  • 1 cup (approx. 300g) Nutella, at room temperature
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Icing sugar, for dusting (optional)
  • Sprinkles, festive themed (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface. Unfold one sheet of puff pastry and gently roll it out into a 12-inch (30cm) circle.
  3. Carefully transfer the pastry circle to the prepared baking sheet. Spread the Nutella evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edge (about ½ inch/1cm).
  4. Unfold the second sheet of puff pastry and gently roll it out into a 12-inch (30cm) circle. Carefully place it on top of the Nutella-covered pastry.
  5. Place in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry circle into 16 equal wedges, starting from the center and going outwards.
  7. Take two adjacent wedges, twist them away from each other twice. Pinch the ends of the twists together to seal. Repeat with all the wedges.
  8. Brush the entire pastry tree with the egg wash. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Let the pastry tree cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring it to a serving plate. Dust with icing sugar and sprinkles (if using).
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
