Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ fl oz (75 ml) London Dry Gin (High Proof)
  • ⅓ fl oz (10 ml) Dry Vermouth (must be fresh and refrigerated)
  • Approximately 1 cup Large, High-Quality Ice Cubes
  • 1 large piece Lemon Peel OR 1 to 3 Spanish Olives (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare and Chill the Glassware: Place your Martini or Coupe glass in the freezer at least 15 minutes before mixing. Alternatively, fill it with crushed ice and water while preparing the cocktail. If using a lemon twist, cut a generous strip of zest now.
  2. Combine and Season: Add the specified amount of Dry Vermouth into the mixing glass first. Pour the Gin directly over the Vermouth.
  3. The Crucial Stir: Fill the mixing glass completely with large, quality ice cubes. Submerge the back of the bar spoon fully and stir the mixture rapidly but smoothly for 20 to 30 seconds until the vessel is visibly frosted and extremely cold.
  4. Strain and Garnish: If you chilled the glass with ice water, thoroughly empty and dry it. Strain the cocktail quickly into the chilled serving glass. If using a Lemon Twist, hold it over the drink, squeeze sharply to express the citrus oils, and then wipe the rim. If using olives, drop the skewered olives into the drink.
