Ingredients:
- 2 cups (475 ml) whole milk
- 4 ounces (115g) dark chocolate (70% cacao), chopped
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) pure maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Marshmallows (optional)
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
- Maple sugar (optional)
Instructions:
- Gently heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Do not boil!
- Add the chopped chocolate to the warm milk. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Whisk in the maple syrup and sea salt until well combined. Taste and adjust to your preference.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of maple sugar, if desired.
