Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (475 ml) whole milk
  • 4 ounces (115g) dark chocolate (70% cacao), chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Marshmallows (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)
  • Maple sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Gently heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Do not boil!
  2. Add the chopped chocolate to the warm milk. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Whisk in the maple syrup and sea salt until well combined. Taste and adjust to your preference.
  4. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of maple sugar, if desired.
