Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) Sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive oil
  • ½ tsp (2.5ml) Salt
  • ¼ tsp (1.25ml) Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Cornstarch
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Honey
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Sriracha (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Water
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. Toss steak cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Ensure the steak is evenly coated.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the steak cubes in a single layer (work in batches if necessary) until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove steak from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha (if using), water and cornstarch to the skillet. Whisk together and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly (about 1-2 minutes).
  5. Return the seared steak to the skillet and toss to coat with the honey garlic sauce. Cook for another minute, until the sauce is heated through and the steak is glazed. Serve immediately.
