Ingredients:

  • 5 oz Black Vodka (or regular vodka + black food colouring)
  • 25 oz Anise Liqueur (e.g., Sambuca or Pernod)
  • 25 oz Fresh Lime Juice (for black base)
  • 25 oz Simple Syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 5 oz London Dry Gin
  • 5 oz Green Chartreuse
  • 5 oz Fresh Lime Juice (for green layer)
  • Chilled Club Soda or Prosecco, to top off
  • 1 Lime Wheel or Dehydrated Lime Slice, for garnish
  • Pinch Edible Glitter (Optional)

Instructions:

  1. Chill the serving glass by filling it with ice water or placing it in the freezer while preparing the liquids.
  2. Prepare the Black Base Layer: In a small mixing glass, combine the black vodka, anise liqueur, 0.25 oz lime juice, and simple syrup. Stir briefly to combine; avoid shaking.
  3. Create the Green Spectral Layer: In the cocktail shaker, combine the Gin, Green Chartreuse, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. Add ice and shake hard until the shaker is thoroughly frosted (about 15 seconds).
  4. Assemble the Base: Empty the chilled serving glass. Carefully pour the entire Black Base Layer mixture into the bottom of the glass.
  5. Layer the Spectral Top: Strain the Green Spectral Layer mix from the shaker into a small measuring cup. Place the back of a bar spoon just above the surface of the black layer. Slowly pour the green mixture over the back of the spoon to allow it to gently float atop the black layer.
  6. Top and Garnish: Gently top the layered cocktail with chilled club soda or Prosecco. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of edible glitter, if using, over the top. Garnish with the lime wheel or dehydrated slice. Serve immediately with a straw.
