Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized apples (preferably Honeycrisp or Fuji, for sweetness)
  • 2 ripe pears (Bartlett or Anjou work well)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste; optional)
  • 4 cups water (for dilution, can adjust based on desired thickness)

Instructions:

  1. [Prepare the Fruit]: Wash the apples and pears thoroughly under running water. Core and slice the apples and pears into quarters. You do not need to peel them as the skin adds flavor and nutrients.
  2. [Juicing Process]: If using a juicer: Feed the apple and pear slices through your juicer according to its instructions until you have extracted all of their juice. If using a blender: Place sliced fruit in the blender with half of the water (2 cups). Blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing down with a spatula to extract maximum juice.
  3. [Mixing Spices]: In a separate bowl
  4. [Combining Juices]: Pour the strained apple-peach mixture into another jug or pitcher. Add in remaining water based on your preference for thickness. Stir in spice mixture until evenly combined.
  5. [Chill & Serve]: Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving so that its cold. Serve over ice if desired, garnished with an apple slice or cinnamon stick.
