Ingredients:
- 4 lb King Crab Legs (thawed)
- 1–2 inches Water (or beer/wine, for steaming)
- 1 Tbsp Salt (optional, for steam water)
- 1 stick (8 Tbsp) Unsalted Butter
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 4 large Lemon Wedges (for serving)
Instructions:
- If using frozen King Crab Legs, ensure they are fully thawed. This can be done overnight in the refrigerator or in a sink of cold water for 30–60 minutes, changing the water every 15 minutes.
- Add 1 to 2 inches of water, wine, or beer, and the optional 1 tablespoon of salt, to a large stockpot. Place a steamer basket inside, ensuring the water level is below the bottom of the basket. Bring the liquid to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Place the King Crab Legs into the steamer basket. Cover the pot tightly. Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a consistent, strong steam. Steam for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the shells, until the internal temperature of the crab meat reaches 130°F to 140°F.
- While the crab is steaming, melt the 1 stick of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the 2 minced garlic cloves and simmer gently for 2–3 minutes to infuse the flavor. Keep warm.
- Carefully remove the hot King Crab Legs from the steamer. Serve immediately with the warm garlic butter and fresh lemon wedges.
