Ingredients:
- 1 – 1.5 lbs (450-680g) salmon fillet, skin-on or skinless
- ¼ cup (60ml) honey
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) soy sauce, low sodium recommended
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25ml) red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)
- Lemon slices, for serving
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease with cooking spray or olive oil.
- Place the salmon fillet in the center of the prepared foil. If using skin-on salmon, place it skin-side down.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Spoon or pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over the salmon fillet, ensuring it's well coated.
- Fold the sides of the foil over the salmon, covering it completely. Seal the edges tightly to create a packet, leaving a little room inside for air to circulate.
- Place the foil packet on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon fillet.
- Salmon is cooked when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- For a caramelized top, carefully open the foil packet, switch the oven to broil, and broil the salmon for 2-3 minutes until the top is lightly browned and bubbling. Watch it closely to avoid burning!
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and lemon slices. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
