Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (7g)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (12g)
- 1 cup warm water (240ml), around 110°F (43°C)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (375g), plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt (5g)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30ml)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (56g), melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (4g)
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (1g)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2g), optional, adjust to taste
Instructions:
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Lightly flour a surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long, thin stick (about 6 inches).
- Place shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a towel, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake the breadsticks for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- While the breadsticks bake, mix melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and salt in a small bowl.
- Remove the breadsticks from the oven. Brush generously with garlic butter and serve warm.
