Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (900g) Apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or a mix), peeled, cored, and chopped
- ½ cup (120ml) Water or Apple Cider
- ¼ cup (50g) Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Lemon Juice
- ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of Salt
Instructions:
- In the saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water/cider, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon (if using), and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are very soft.
- Remove from heat. For a chunky applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender or transfer to a regular blender (be careful when blending hot liquids!).
- Taste the applesauce and add more sugar or cinnamon, if desired.
- Serve warm or chilled.
