  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, about 15 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (about 5 ml)
  • 1 cup mixed seasonal fruits (e.g., berries, sliced bananas, or diced apples, about 150 g)
  • 1/4 cup nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, or pecans, roughly chopped, about 30 g)
  • Optional toppings: Greek yogurt, cinnamon, or nut butter

Instructions:

  1. Measure steel cut oats and rinse under cold water in a fine mesh strainer.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and salt to a boil.
  3. Stir in the rinsed oats and reduce the heat to low.
  4. Simmer uncovered for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender but still chewy.
