- 1/2 teaspoon salt (about 3 g)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, about 15 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (about 5 ml)
- 1 cup mixed seasonal fruits (e.g., berries, sliced bananas, or diced apples, about 150 g)
- 1/4 cup nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, or pecans, roughly chopped, about 30 g)
- Optional toppings: Greek yogurt, cinnamon, or nut butter
Instructions:
- Measure steel cut oats and rinse under cold water in a fine mesh strainer.
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water and salt to a boil.
- Stir in the rinsed oats and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer uncovered for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender but still chewy.
- Once the oats are cooked to your desired consistency, remove from heat.
- Stir in honey (or maple syrup) and vanilla extract.
- Spoon oats into serving bowls.
- Top with mixed seasonal fruits and nuts.
- Add any additional toppings you prefer.
