Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tablespoon (12.5g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup (50g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese, finely grated
- 1/4 cup (15g) chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon (1g) garlic powder
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons (28g) melted butter
- 2 tablespoons (20g) grated parmesan cheese
- sprinkle of Italian herbs or dried parsley
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- Add salt, olive oil, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with cling film and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave. Stir in minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle (approx. 12x18 inches/ 30x45cm). Brush the dough evenly with the garlic Parmesan butter mixture.
- Cut the dough into strips, about 2 inches (5cm) wide. Stack the strips on top of each other.
- Cut the stacked strips into rolls about 2 inches (5cm) wide.
- Arrange the rolls in the prepared cake pan. Cover loosely with cling film and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with the lightly beaten egg. Sprinkle top with the remaining parmesean cheese and herbs.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let the rolls cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve warm and enjoy the Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Rolls!
