Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (170g) dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream for chocolate layer
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream for vanilla layer
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 medium lemon
  • Zest of 1 medium orange
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (60g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (100g) mixed nuts, roughly chopped (e.g., almonds, hazelnuts)
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Melt chocolate with heavy cream in a double boiler or microwave until smooth. Pour into the prepared baking pan and chill until set.
  2. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Spread over the chilled chocolate layer and return to the fridge to set.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, granulated sugar, and zests until smooth. Spread this mixture over the vanilla layer and chill.
  4. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Add the chopped nuts and cook until golden, then cool slightly. Spread over the chilled citrus layer.
  5. Chill the entire dessert for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.
