Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (240g)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (15g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (5g)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (3g)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed (115g)
  • ¾ cup buttermilk (180ml)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (28g)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the chilled butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Quickly pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes for better flakiness.
  6. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll to about 1-inch thickness, and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  7. Arrange the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and risen.
  9. Brush warm biscuits with melted butter, mixed with garlic powder if desired.
  10. Enjoy warm with your favorite toppings.
