Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (240g)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (15g)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (5g)
- ½ teaspoon salt (3g)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed (115g)
- ¾ cup buttermilk (180ml)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (28g)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the chilled butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Quickly pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes for better flakiness.
- Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll to about 1-inch thickness, and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Arrange the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and risen.
- Brush warm biscuits with melted butter, mixed with garlic powder if desired.
