Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup (180ml) buttermilk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the buttermilk and stir just until combined; do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Gently fold the dough over itself 3-4 times for layers, then roll to about 1-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and serve warm with butter or jam.
