Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (100g) popcorn kernels
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons (30g) butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Place the Dutch oven over medium-high heat on the hob.
  2. Add the oil, popcorn kernels, sugar, and salt to the Dutch oven.
  3. Place the lid on the Dutch oven.
  4. Cook, stirring constantly with a heatproof spatula, to prevent burning.
  5. Cook until the popping slows to only a few seconds between pops.
  6. Immediately remove the Dutch oven from the heat.
  7. Let the dutch oven rest for a minute or two to allow any leftover kernels to pop.
  8. Carefully pour the kettle corn into the large bowl.
  9. If using, drizzle the melted butter over the kettle corn and gently toss to coat.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.
