Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups (355 ml) strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) coffee liqueur (like Kahlua or Tia Maria), optional
- 16 ounces (450g) mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream, chilled
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 6-8 glazed donuts (depending on size), cut into roughly 1-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions:
- Prepare the Coffee Soak: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.
- Make the Mascarpone Cream: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat the softened mascarpone cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until just combined.
- Assemble the Tiramisu: Dip the donut pieces into the coffee mixture, one at a time, allowing them to soak briefly. Arrange a layer of coffee-soaked donut pieces in the bottom of the prepared dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the donut layer. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked donuts and the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Chill: Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably longer, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Garnish & Serve: Just before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Serve chilled.
