Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (355 ml) strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) coffee liqueur (like Kahlua or Tia Maria), optional
  • 16 ounces (450g) mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream, chilled
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6-8 glazed donuts (depending on size), cut into roughly 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Coffee Soak: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Cream: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat the softened mascarpone cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until just combined.
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu: Dip the donut pieces into the coffee mixture, one at a time, allowing them to soak briefly. Arrange a layer of coffee-soaked donut pieces in the bottom of the prepared dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the donut layer. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked donuts and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  4. Chill: Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably longer, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Just before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Serve chilled.
