Ingredients:
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika or cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 2-3 tablespoons cold water
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the grated cheese, softened butter, flour, salt, and paprika/cayenne (if using).
- Use your hands or a fork to mix until crumbs form. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Use a knife or pizza cutter to create 1-inch squares. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Use a fork to poke holes in each cracker for air circulation. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the crackers to cool on the baking sheet before serving or storing.
