Ingredients:
- 5 lbs Fresh Green Beans, trimmed
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, cut into cubes
- 4 large cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup Chicken Broth or Vegetable Broth
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (Optional)
Instructions:
- Thoroughly wash the fresh green beans. Trim off the tough stem ends and snap or slice the beans to a manageable size (about 2 inches long). Pat them dry slightly.
- Place the trimmed green beans into the basin of the slow cooker.
- Scatter the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and onion powder evenly over the green beans.
- Distribute the cubes of unsalted butter across the top of the beans. Pour the measured chicken or vegetable broth gently around the edges of the beans.
- Secure the lid tightly onto the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours OR on HIGH for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- The beans are done when they are fork-tender but still have slight texture. Taste one and adjust salt/pepper if necessary.
- If using, stir in the tablespoon of fresh lemon juice just before serving to brighten the flavours. Transfer immediately to a serving dish.
