Ingredients:
- 2 pounds (900g) sirloin steak (or stew meat), cut into 1-inch (2.5cm) cubes, trimmed of excess fat
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
- ½ teaspoon (1g) black pepper
- 1 teaspoon (2g) onion powder
- 1 teaspoon (2g) smoked paprika (optional, for added depth)
- ½ cup (120ml) beef broth, low sodium preferred
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Trim and cube the steak into bite-sized pieces. Ensure even sizes for consistent cooking.
- Heat olive oil (or butter) in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steak bites in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, until browned on all sides (approximately 1-2 minutes per side). This locks in flavor.
- Place the seared (or unseared) steak bites into the Crock Pot.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), and beef broth.
- Evenly pour the sauce mixture over the steak bites in the Crock Pot.
- Cover the Crock Pot.
- Cook on LOW for 4-6 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours, or until the steak is fork-tender. Check periodically and adjust cooking time as needed.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley (optional) and serve hot.
