Ingredients:
- 2 large sweet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs / 680g), peeled and cut into ½-inch thick fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (2.5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder (2.5 ml)
- ½ teaspoon sea salt (2.5 ml), or to taste
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (1.25 ml), or to taste
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (15 ml)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (optional).
- Place the sweet potato fries in a large bowl.
- Drizzle with olive oil. Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until the fries are evenly coated.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the fries and toss again to ensure they are all evenly coated. This will help with crispness.
- Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they aren't overcrowded. Overcrowding steams the fries instead of bakes them.
- Bake for 15 minutes. Flip the fries and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Watch them carefully towards the end to prevent burning.
- Let the fries cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving. This helps them crisp up further.
