Ingredients:
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup (1 stick/113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1.5 tsp garlic paste)
- 1 cup (113g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup (28g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried parsley)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- Red pepper flakes or cracked black pepper, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- In a medium bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Place bread halves, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the garlic butter evenly over both halves.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over both halves, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- For extra crispiness, switch to the broiler on high for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning. The cheese should be a lovely golden brown (optional).
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
