Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (950 ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons (10 g) loose black tea or 4 tea bags
  • 1 cup (100 g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Zest of 1 orange (about 1 tablespoon)
  • Optional: Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: Slices of lemon or orange for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of cranberries with ¼ cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat, simmering for 10 minutes until berries burst and release juices.
  2. In a separate pot, bring the remaining 3 cups of water to a boil. Add the loose black tea or tea bags and let steep based on package instructions, usually around 5 minutes.
  3. Strain the cranberry mixture into the brewed tea, discarding the solids. Stir in the orange zest and adjust sweetness as necessary.
  4. Serve hot in mugs or chilled over ice. Garnish with fresh mint or citrus slices, if desired.
