  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper (pinch)
  • ½ tablespoon honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener (or to taste)
  • Optional: Pinch of ground cardamom
  • Optional: Sprinkling of cinnamon for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom (if using).
  2. Gently heat the mixture over medium heat. Do not boil.
  3. Whisk the ingredients together as they heat, ensuring the spices are well dispersed (or simply stir well).
  4. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes, until heated through and fragrant.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the honey or maple syrup to taste.
  6. Pour into a mug and garnish with a sprinkling of cinnamon, if desired. Serve immediately.
