- ½ cup small-curd cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
- ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- ½ large frozen banana, sliced
- 1 large handful fresh baby spinach
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon fresh lemon zest (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- Pour the ¾ cup of milk into the blender jug first. This prevents the blades from getting jammed.
- Add the cottage cheese, spinach, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and maple syrup (if using) on top of the liquid.
- Add the frozen banana slices, frozen blueberries, and any optional seeds.
- Secure the lid firmly. Start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high speed. Use the tamper to push ingredients down toward the blades.
- Blend until completely smooth, ensuring no chunks of cottage cheese or spinach remain visible (about 45-60 seconds on high).
- If the smoothie is too thick, add liquid, 1 tablespoon at a time, blending briefly after each addition until the desired pourable consistency is achieved.
