Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup finely chopped pecans
Instructions:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the butter, sugar, and water over medium-low heat.
- Stir gently with a wooden spoon until the butter melts completely.
- Continue cooking until the mixture turns amber and reaches a temperature of 295°F (approximately 15–20 minutes). Stir occasionally and reduce heat if necessary to prevent burning.
- Carefully pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee layer.
- After waiting for 2–3 minutes for the chocolate to soften, use an offset spatula to spread it evenly across the surface.
- Sprinkle finely chopped pecans on top of the melted chocolate and press them down slightly into it.
- Allow it to set at room temperature for about 2 hours until firm.
- Once set, break or cut into bite-sized pieces for serving or gifting!
