Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
  • Additional marinara sauce for serving

Instructions:

  1. Fry turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy. Set aside to drain on paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped turkey bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form mixture into 4 patties. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium heat and cook burgers for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in marinara sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. On each toasted bun, place a turkey burger patty, top with marinara sauce, and sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Optionally, place assembled burgers under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve immediately with extra marinara on the side.
