Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Sodium Percarbonate
  • 2 cups Hot Water
  • 1 tablespoon White Vinegar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Gather Your Supplies: Ensure you have a measuring spoon, measuring cup, a bowl or pitcher for mixing, and your tea maker.
  2. Measure Sodium Percarbonate: Using the tablespoon, measure out 2 tablespoons of sodium percarbonate.
  3. Prepare Hot Water: Boil water in a kettle or heat it in the microwave until hot but not boiling (around 190°F/88°C).
  4. Mixing Solution: In a bowl or pitcher, combine the measured sodium percarbonate and hot water. Stir well until the sodium percarbonate has completely dissolved.
  5. Add White Vinegar (Optional): If desired, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to enhance the cleaning properties and assist with deodorizing. Stir gently to mix; be cautious as there may be some fizzing from the reaction between vinegar and sodium percarbonate.
  6. Pour into Tea Maker: Carefully pour this mixture into your tea makers reservoir.
  7. Soak Time: Allow the cleaner to sit in your tea maker for at least one hour to effectively break down any stains or residues left behind by tea oils or minerals.
  8. Clean Internal Parts: If possible, disassemble any removable parts of your tea maker that can be safely submerged. Use an old toothbrush or soft sponge dipped in this solution to scrub these parts gently if needed.
  9. Rinse Thoroughly: After soaking, rinse out the machine thoroughly with fresh water multiple times until no residue remains. Run one full cycle using clean water through your tea maker after rinsing to ensure all cleaning agents are flushed out before brewing another batch of tea.
  10. Dry Completely: Wipe down external surfaces with a damp cloth and allow all components to air dry fully before reassembling them.
