Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
- 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
- 1/2 cup (75g) finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp (30ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp (5g) garlic powder
- 1 tsp (5g) dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup (100g) ketchup
- 2 tbsp (30g) brown sugar
- 1 tbsp (15ml) mustard (Dijon or yellow)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, chopped onion, and milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan, smoothing the top evenly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread the glaze over the meatloaf.
- Place the loaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.
