Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • Optional: 1/2 cup (85g) chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan, or line with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk in the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt into the melted butter until well combined.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
