Ingredients:

  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling (approximately 600g)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (approximately 430g)
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes (170g)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling, if desired) (approximately 120ml)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (approximately 50g)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apple mixture.
  4. Distribute the cold, cubed butter evenly over the cake mix.
  5. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the butter and cake mix. Sprinkle nuts, if using, on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the topping should come out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce, if desired. Enjoy your caramel apple dump cake!
