Ingredients:
- 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling (approximately 600g)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (approximately 430g)
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes (170g)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling, if desired) (approximately 120ml)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (approximately 50g)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apple mixture.
- Distribute the cold, cubed butter evenly over the cake mix.
- Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the butter and cake mix. Sprinkle nuts, if using, on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the topping should come out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce, if desired. Enjoy your caramel apple dump cake!
