Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) fresh blueberries, rinsed
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse blueberries under cold water and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, mashing the blueberries with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
- If desired, stir in lemon juice for added zing.
- Pour the syrup into a glass jar or bottle. Allow to cool completely, then seal and refrigerate.
