Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) fresh blueberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse blueberries under cold water and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and water.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, mashing the blueberries with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or measuring cup, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
  6. If desired, stir in lemon juice for added zing.
  7. Pour the syrup into a glass jar or bottle. Allow to cool completely, then seal and refrigerate.
