Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices tomato

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently fold the ingredients together using a fork or your hands until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into discs about 3/4 inch thick, pressing a small indent into the center of each patty.
  4. Preheat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  5. Place patties on the heat and cook for 5 minutes without moving them to develop a mahogany-colored crust.
  6. Flip the burgers and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty.
  7. Cook for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Transfer patties to a plate to rest, then assemble on toasted brioche buns with lettuce, sliced red onion, and tomato.
