Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 brioche buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices tomato
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Gently fold the ingredients together using a fork or your hands until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into discs about 3/4 inch thick, pressing a small indent into the center of each patty.
- Preheat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Place patties on the heat and cook for 5 minutes without moving them to develop a mahogany-colored crust.
- Flip the burgers and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty.
- Cook for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Transfer patties to a plate to rest, then assemble on toasted brioche buns with lettuce, sliced red onion, and tomato.
